Regardless, while I am really annoyed that this practice cost me $13, my question: Needless to say that, and the customer service response, left a very bad taste in my mouth. So now I feel Amazon has twice told me different things that ended up not being true. Either way, the reps refused to refund me, saying I should have known I was not eligible. When I asked for the email showing I was being charged the 12.99, I was not given one. When I inquired as to why I was shown a "Free Prime Trial" when logged in at checkout, when I was not actually eligible, I was just told by a rep those "show up all the time". The one order I was told I'd lose the Prime benefits when I cancelled, which I was ok with, but again apparently that cancellation did not happen.

But these two orders were all placed on 2/28, with the understanding I was being given a free prime trial, & the order amount was above the 'free shipping' threshold even without prime. I contacted their customer service chat and was told I was not eligible for a refund because I had used the prime benefits. I contacted their customer service that evening and right away, I was told it would be cancelled and refunded within 3-5 business days. I think this is because it was past the '3 day policy' they have. I tried to cancel, but it would only let me "Pause" the membership. Later I check my card balance in the early morning on March 4th & noticed I'd been charged the monthly fee.

At checkout, there was no mention of a charge for Prime. The point is, I had no intention of doing Prime, except I saw this banner saying it would be 'free for 30 days'. But it would have been closer to Christmas. I sign up, thinking "Well, why not" if it is free & they are offering? I've actually been an annual prime member before and was considering doing it again, at some point. I ended up not keeping it, so I cancelled in January & they auto-refunded it, not thinking much of it.Ī month later on February 28th, I got the above-mentioned banner. I thought that was odd & rather generous, because I was given a prime trial in December. I noticed there was a banner that said, "'My Name', we're offering you a Free 30-day trial of Prime". I was recently shopping on Amazon with several items in my cart.
